Ticks & Fleas
We have more than our fair share of ticks in the Kimberly the main ones are the brown dog tick and the bush tick. Ticks are most likely picked up from the ground they live in the dirt and in shrubs and grasses. They cause skin irritations, anaemias and occasionally carry tick bourne disease.
Luckily we do not have the paralysis tick in the Kimberly.
Flea bites are irritating and stressful for your pet. Skin inflammation due to flea saliva (known as FAD – flea allergy dermatitis) is one of the most common causes for an animal to visit the vet.
But that’s not all. Fleas can transmit disease and even cause anaemia in very heavy infestations.Fleas can also bite humans, and, once inside your home, they can be very difficult to get rid of, so it is important to protect your pets from fleas
